A Bola is a Portuguese sports newspaper, national in scope and published daily. Its first edition was in 1945, having been founded by Cândido de Oliveira, Ribeiro dos Reis and Vicente de Melo, being published twice a week. In 1989 it became a four-weekly issue. It became a daily newspaper in 1995.
It is the most popular newspaper among Portuguese emigrants and widely read in the former Portuguese colonies in Africa. Since 2006 it has also been printed in Newark, New Jersey, in the USA. From 2009 it also began to have an edition for Angola, three times a week, and from 2012, also in a tri-weekly version, it produced an edition for Mozambique.
